Leader: the LORD! I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation.

PEOPLE: Great are the works of the LORD, studied by all who delight in them.

Leader: Full of honor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever.

PEOPLE: He has gained renown by his wonderful deeds; the LORD is gracious and merciful.

Leader: The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy.

PEOPLE: They are established forever and ever, to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness.

INVOCATION

Dear Lord, we gather in your sight to proclaim our devotion to your will and our happiness at the endless love and grace you bestow upon us. As we hear the good news of the Gospel, may we take it into our lives with new awareness and dedication. This we pray in the name of our Savior, Amen.

**OPENING HYMN         “From All That Dwell Below the Skies”         Blue #229

CALL TO CONFESSION

Our sometimes-feeble attempts to follow in faith show our shortcomings, but we know a merciful God who always forgives us. Please join me as we pray together.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Dearest Lord, in these dark times we often stumble in the darkness, seeking the light of your comfort. But the light is always there before us, even as we look up to its inspiring flame. Grant us the peace to know our shortcomings even as you forgive them. And may we continue to look to the light of your perfect love in these dark days even as we know you will deliver us brighter days to come. Amen

(moment for silent personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Friends in faith, believe in the grace of Scripture and the love of God, by whose infinite presence our sins are forgiven. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught to pray, saying:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen

OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS

May what we offer here be of our own hearts and dedicated to the service of our faith

and our mission to others as they become the blessings and hope that others need and pray for in their own lives. This we pray in the name of Jesus.  Amen
