WELCOME and ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP (Adapted from Psalm 66) Leader: Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name;

give to him glorious praise.

PEOPLE: Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! Because of your great power, your enemies cringe before you.

Leader: All the earth worships you; they sing praises to you, sing praises to your name.”

PEOPLE: Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds among mortals.

Leader: He turned the sea into dry land; they passed through the river on foot. There we rejoiced in him,

PEOPLE: Bless our God, O peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard.

INVOCATION

Blessed God, whose benevolence extends to all corners of the planet, we give you praise. You seek the lame, that they may walk in your glory. You call the blind to behold your grandeur. You fill the hungry and offer release to those imprisoned. Your kindness follows us wherever we go. Amen.

**OPENING HYMN “Jesus Walked This Lonesome Valley” Blue #80

CALL TO CONFESSION

The pathways of faith are many and varied, and we don’t often discern them well. Help us to see more clearly as we confess together.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

O God, we are lame when we don’t walk by faith. We are blind when we don’t seek your truth. We crave fulfillment when we should seek your righteousness. We are in bondage to our own misunderstandings. Dear Lord, release us from our captivity through Christ, and in his name forgive us. (a moment for silent personal confession)

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

By the Grace of our Creator and the everlasting love that sustains us, we know that we are forgiven. Amen.

**PASSING OF THE PEACE

**APOSTLES CREED (Adapted by John Redman)

I Believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was born of a young peasant woman, trained as a carpenter, and baptized by His cousin John. He taught many, He healed many, and He angered many. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He defeated death and He offers us grace and love in the name of God the Father Almighty; from that time through all time to come. I believe in the power of the Holy Spirit; the universal Church of Christ; the Communion of sharing our gifts with others; the forgiveness of our sins; the Grace of God’s love, and that each soul may have life everlasting. Amen

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

O Lord, your Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Give us grace to receive your truth in faith and love, and strength to follow on the path you set before us; through Jesus Christ, Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE & THE LORD’S PRAYER

And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught to pray, saying:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS

We can hoard the gifts with which you bless us, God of generosity, or we can share them with others. May what we offer in these moments be the very blessing, the very hope, the very peace others need. This we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

PRAYER OF THANKS

We thank you, our Lord for those gifts to us that we send to you for your work and ours in congregation, community, and culture. Guide us in good use as we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
