PRELUDE “Joyful, Joyful” by Joseph Bush
WELCOME and ANNOUNCEMENTS
Leader: The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? PEOPLE: One thing I asked of the Lord, that I will seek after: to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple. Leader: For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent. PEOPLE: Now my head is lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy. Leader: Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud, be gracious to me and answer me! PEOPLE: "Come," my heart says, "seek his face!" Your face, Lord, do I seek. Leader: Do not hide your face from me. Do not turn your servant away in anger, you who have been my help.
PEOPLE: Do not cast me off, do not forsake me, O God of my salvation!
INVOCATION
Dear Lord, as we gather in your presence may we be mindful of your awesome love and unending power to give us the grace that we seek, even though we are seldom deserving of it. Bring us the message of healing through the words of Scripture and the example of Jesus today and into each day of our lives in you. In the name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.
**OPENING HYMN “Arise Your Light has Come” Blue #411
CALL TO CONFESSION
In the long nights of winter, darkness can harden our hearts. In the chill of morning frost, the sun warms us lonely a little. But we turn to the eternal warmth of our God that cloaks us in love and understanding. Let us join together in our confession prayer.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty God, you love us, but we do not love you fully. You call, but we do not always listen. We often walk away from neighbors in need, wrapped in our own concerns. God of grace, help us to realize our imperfection so that as you move toward us in mercy, we may turn to you, and receive understanding and forgiveness through Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Amen.
(a moment for silent personal confession)
ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS
Friends in faith, the Psalms praise, the Prophets warn, the Gospels celebrate. And through this all, our God steadfastly forgives us time and again. By the word of our redeemer, we are forgiven. Amen.
**PASSING OF THE PEACE
**APOSTLES CREED (Traditional)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The Holy catholic Church, the Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of sins; The Resurrection of the body, And the Life everlasting. Amen.
**HYMN OF PRAISE “Here I am Lord” Blue #525
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
Guide us, O God, by your Word, and Holy Spirit, that in your light we may see light, in your truth find freedom, and in your will discover peace; through Christ our Lord, Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
And Lord we pray for those in our own hearts whose names you already know, for their own healing and comfort, in your name and that of our redeemer Jesus Christ, who taught to pray, saying:
LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS
We can hoard the gifts with which you bless us, God of generosity, or we can share them with others. May what we offer in these moments be the very blessing, the very hope, the very peace others need. This we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

PRAYER OF THANKS
Lord God, we thank you for these gifts. As we enter a new year may we find ways to honor you by giving of our treasure, our time and our talents to glorify you and your son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
